In the summer of 2010, Canyons was significantly upgraded by Talisker Corporation in order to compete with the other nearby resorts. In 2013, Talisker and Vail Resorts signed a 50-year lease for Vail to run the resort operations. One year later, Vail Resorts purchased neighboring Park City Mountain Resort and merged the two resorts via an interconnect gondola, re-branding as Park City at that time. The former Canyons base area was then renamed as Canyons Village at Park City.

The combined areas are currently operating under the name “Park City Mountain Resort.” However, it’s worth noting that the former Canyons base area has undergone a name change and is now called “Canyons Village at Park City.” Notably, Vail, the organization responsible for the resort, has made significant improvements in terms of snowmaking capabilities and the amenities at the mid-mountain chalet, known as Red Pine Lodge

In 2018, an upgrade was made to the ski lift system. The old High Meadow fixed grip quad, which used to serve as a learning area at Red Pine Lodge, was replaced with a modern high-speed quad, built by Doppelmayr. This upgrade significantly improved the efficiency and speed of transporting visitors to and from the learning area.

Subsequently, in 2019, Vail installed another fixed grip quad called “Over and Out.” This lift was strategically placed to offer a direct return route from two popular areas, Tombstone and Iron Mountain, back to the Canyons Village base area. This addition aims to enhance the overall skiing and snowboarding experience for guests, making it more convenient to access and explore different parts of the resort.

Overall, the changes and upgrades made by Vail have contributed to the overall appeal and functionality of Park City Mountain Resort, ensuring visitors have a memorable and enjoyable time on the slopes.
